Agnes Mirembe

I am passionate about tourism and conservation in my country Uganda and East Africa as a whole. I made sure i travel to most of the tourism attractions so as to sell them well to the people from the out side world. I love to put together interesting packages for tourists and insuring they have a great travel experience. Also i believe that through tourism one can reach out and empower local people, that is why i partnered up with a local school in my community to do a tree planting and water project and from each trip done, you indirectly support this project .

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"National parks-Game drives,Gorilla tracking,hiking,Mountain climbing
Beaches-Beach relaxation
Local communities-Coffee Experiential tours, community engagements
Lakes and rivers-Water Rafting, Bungee jumping, canoeing, fishing"

How did you get involved in travel?

"I got involved in travel when i was young as my family used to take us to nice places like the zoo, beaches etc and when i grew up, i pursued a tourism bachelors degree and still here as tourism students, we used to travel for a few tourism field trips. Then during my 3rd year of the degree i got a job in one tour company and this is how my career begun, we used to travel anywhere and everywhere across Uganda on famtrips, i grew passionate about travel as i discovered how beautiful and richer my country was. Then from here after 5 years of working for this company. I decided to start up umoja motherland tours ltd."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"I will never forget my second time of Gorilla tracking. In the beginning it was a little hectic as we walked and penetrated the Bwindi Impenetrable forest, the thick bushes and tall trees , the stinging plants plus red ants this made me paranoid some how. But when we approached a family of Gorillas with a gigantic silver back ,this was over whelming. Seeing the Gorillas feed, the mothers grooming the juveniles and the baby playing and swinging over the tall tress. This was something magical that i'll never forget."

Agnes did a wonderful job helping me plan my trip! I wanted an in-depth look at Rwanda. No tour company offered an itinerary matching my desire. With Agnes, I was able to write more own itinerary. She organized the entire trip and arranged all the permits, no small feat in Africa.

She quoted me a price that was all inclusive. I took it, it was a great price. However, please note, she was willing to design a less expensive, less inclusive trip if I preferred.

I don't know if all Kim Kim agents are as awesome as Agnes. I hope so. I will definitely work with Kim Kim in the future. I hope to say good-bye to large organized tour groups forever.

I booked a 6 day trip with Umoja to visit Rwanda together with my girlfriend

Agnes was very responsive on the KimKim chat at helping me tailor the trip I wanted (seeing some of Kigali, chimps in Nyungwe, gorillas and golden monkeys in Volcanoes NP), and the quote from Umoja combined with KimKim's relatively modest commission made the trip much cheaper than comparable quotes I got from traditional agencies.

Eric was the guide on the trip itself and he was excellent. Picked us up and made us feel welcomed at the airport, and struck a great balance between being informative and helpful but also providing us the space and freedom we needed to enjoy the holiday.

Would definitely recommend talking to Agnes about your next trip to East Africa.

I wanted to travel to Uganda for gorilla habituation, golden monkey habituation, and chimpanzee habituation. Agnes was a great help in answering all my questions promptly, and she helped organize the whole trip itinerary for me given the activities I wanted to do. From the moment I landed in Uganda to the moment I left, everything was well taken care of. I had a great time seeing many different types of primates in Uganda, and I highly recommend Agnes and her tour company.

Booking was incredibly easy and safe and Agnes (who organised the tour) followed up and kept in contact to ensure everything ran smoothly and that we were comfortable. All the places were worth seeing, and we are so glad we did everything that we did. I would highly recommend these people and will definitely use them again if/ when I venture back to Africa.

The gorilla trek was amazing!!! I still can't believe that I did it! Very well organised and guides and traders were great. Get a Porter!!! I didn't think it was going to be neccessary as my backpack was not heavy but they were super helpful and you are providing work for someone who might instead be poaching.
The chimpanzee tracking was fun but physically challenging. Much harder than the gorillas. Really steep hills and we had to move quite quickly to keep up with them. Definitely get a porter for this one.
Really people in rwanda are so friendly and welcoming, I cannot wait to go back another time.
A wonderful trip, thank you so much for organising such a great experience !
