When I went to work in a run down /drug area in my town we put in a police sub station with Bike police. One of the things they did was to develope relationshipswith the kids in the neighborhood. Crime and drug use ws decreased and gang activities went way down. Keep the office at SOUTH ATLANTIC BIKE SHOP Having an office i the bike shop is a GREAT idea. I believe having the chance to have Officer Turner work along side the same people she serves has humanized the police force in ways that I believe will bring about meaningful change and help us to find more ways to work together for the good of our community. It brings me joy to know they worked for it with the help of a APD officer. I can't think of a better way to offer community oriented policing. Please don't forget this partnership started from one officer pulling the shop director over asking for help for some kids on his beat. That officers genuine concern for those kids to have someone to help them fix their bikes. Please keep those types of partnership open.
