Kripa Sunuwar

Born and raised in the Himalayas. I am the native citizen of this beautiful country, Nepal. Traveling has always been my passion as there is so much to learn about the indigenous history and culture of the destinations.

What places and activities do you specialize in?

"I specialize in creating unique experiences and tailor-made itineraries for guests to Nepal, providing them with in-depth knowledge of the country."

How did you get involved in travel?

""Travel is a never-ending journey " my passion for this field started at an early age when my mother and I traveled to Darjeeling, India. I was too young to understand the meaning of travel but that was the early stage for me to know how traveling feels like."

Please share a unique travel experience you will never forget.

"There are a lot of memories but one of the most mesmerizing memories that I have is the views of the Himalayas. Back in 2010, I did a short Annapurna circuit trek and I was astonished by the breathtaking view of Annapurna range. The mountains glowed like it was gold plated when the sun hit its rays every morning."

My children and I had our health put at risk by the disgusting state of the accommodation on the trek. We were not told to bring bedding. We booked a luxury accommodation package at $20,000 usa for three people ( two of which were sharing a room) and 11 days. We were booked into accommodation with no running water no power and no heating. We had to beg every 30 minutes to keep the central wood burning kettle stove alight. We had no room heating in any lodge. The last lodge was a filthy $30 a night tea house. My daughters were reduced to tears when they saw the mouldy bathrooms, stained beds with no sheets.
It was -15 degrees inside and out. We had not been told to bring sleeping bags. in fact we were told not to.
We were defrauded into a holiday of very low standard while paying a premium price. A number of the properties we visited would be closed by Australian standards for health issues.
Both Raj and Kripa were very keen to take out money while there was a great lack in their knowledge of the properties and service provided. They basically stole our money and our annual holiday together. You should be ashamed of yourselves for this calous and dangerous treatment of other human beings. You will never be forgiven for such a terrible and dangerous situation. I would like to talk personally to Max the owner of mountain trails to alert him to the dangerous undertakings of his Nepal team.

Review for Nepal Tibet trip from 18th May – 5th June 2019
Unforgettable Nepal, I was back to this country again for trekking to Lower Mustang,
which is very similar to Tibet Plateau?
First time domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara without delay, leaving me plenty time to explore this town again either food or shopping. Stunning view from plane flying from Pokhara to Jomsom and landed on an “unbelievable” that it’s an airport! Weather changed from hot Pokhara to a dry and cool Mustang, made me felt fresh and excited to begin with the trekking. I like the 2st 3 days trek, as it took only 3 – 5 hours for each day, so I have sometimes to explore the town and mesmerized to the scenery,
unique building structure, “oasis within a desert”, monastery and cold dry air. However, the last day back to Jomson via Lubra....aw...I was taken so long hours to reach the main road which completely out of expectation, but I will never never forget this part of journey, rocky road with some “stream” and very very strong wind always push me walking backward rather than helping me to walk faster, so you can imagine how difficult to walk against strong wind.
I am feeling thankful to guide, Suman, who were always helping me to carry my heavy backpack, patiently waiting for me and assisting me on walking through difficult trail. Even though the whole trekking trail not consider difficult, but it does really required certain level of fitness and stamina if wanted to complete all according to planned hours especially the last day.

Next chapter of this trip would be Tibet.
Travelling to Tibet was my dream and finally I have completed once in my life time experience in Tibet though most of the days were cloudy and sometimes rain. I saw the iconic Potala Palace, scenic Yomdruk Lake, awe inspiring Mt Everest from base camp, played snow at Gong Tang La Pass.
Felt the elevation at the 5000+.......This part of the review short and sweet, as really need to experience it personally. I hope this is not going to be my once in life time travel to Tibet, wish to be back there again with nice clear weather.
I am really grateful to driver (Dawa) and guide (Tseten), both of them really taken good care of me, always check and ensure that I did not experience the altitude sickness. I felt safe and comfortable throughout my whole trip as he has excellent driving skill, sharing and taking plenty of beautiful photos and left me with lots of memorable pictures. Experience guide who discussed and give suggestion if possible depend on the affordable flexibility that he can in order for me to have pleasant and enjoyable trip in order to prevent altitude issue.

Last, I would like to thank Kripa who planned this wonderful trip for me again and arranged Bimba to brief me on the Tibet trip, he (Bimba) also always called to ensure my safety in Tibet. Thanks Anil help at Nepal border when back from Tibet and shared with me the history of Nuwakot. Hope to see you guys in future visit.

We highly recommend working with Kripa. During the planning process, she answered all of our questions in a timely manner and was friendly/professional/helpful. She gave us all of the information we could possibly need to prepare for our travels. She helped us to plan the exact trip that we wanted, including time in Kathmandu and Pokhara, a four day/three night Trek and three nights in Chitwan National Park. When we got to Nepal, she met us upon arrival to introduce us to our guides. All of our guides and drivers were punctual, kind and professional. We had Tendu as our guide for our Trek, and he went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed. His experience trekking was also very impressive. Kripa met us at the end of our stay in Nepal to check in on how everything went.

This was our first time using any type of travel company, and we found it to be extremely helpful. With all of the logistics taken care for us, we were able to focus on the experience of being in Nepal. We had a vacation that we will never forget and will hopefully be returning in the future for more trekking.

2. We are disappointed by the assigned guide even though we still tipped him on the understanding that guides rely on tips for bulk of their pay. The assigned guide for Bhakatpur and Namo Buddha on both days seem wanting to end his day early and was rushing us to complete the Bhakatpur city tour. On Namo Buddha, he initially suggested we hike down the dirt road (road by car approaching Namo Buddha) and only told us of the other hike down from the Namo Buddha stupa after I insisted. This is despite my specific advice that I wanted a short hike incorporated which I know is quite scenic. We were left to hike on our own which we did not mind. Then after we met back at Namo Buddha in the hope to take part in the Tara chanting which was delayed that day - we had the impression that we were taking too much time when we insisted to wait from 3 pm to 4 pm at the monastery.

Compared with guides that we have come across in Bhutan, S Korea and Europe, the guide in Nepal do not appear as professional and give us the impression that it is always what is in it for me. We will not be keen to use further guide service in our future trips in Nepal so long we have maps as having a guide is as good as not having any.
3. On the hotels, the next time we will provide better clarity on our needs as the Patan hotel was quite eye opening and one that we are not used to nor feel safe. Besides the reviews by other travelers, it will be good to provide some details of the traditional homes that one can expect which is very different from a typical hotel.

The Poon Hill trek was the highlight, & although it wasn't always easy with the extra needs of kids, Pemba, our guide & our porters were there to organise & support us.
The 2 days sightseeing in Kathmandu were perfect, and again our guide was superb, engaging with the children & making sure they were enjoying themselves.
The homestay in Chitwan was fabulous too & well worth experiencing. The only complaint there was the heat after being in the cooler mountains!!
All in all it was an amazing experience, professionally organised & all our concerns were taken care of. It made such a difference knowing that everything was taken care of & that we could ask any question, however trivial at any time. We would definitely use KimKim in the future & who knows, maybe even return to do some more trekking in Nepal. Thank you, Kripa & all your associates.

Review for Nepal trip from 9th Sept - 23rd Sept. This was my 2nd trip to Nepal but 1st time experience trekking in Nepal (Muldai and Poon Hill Trek). I arrived Nepal late night so reached Nagarkot in the mid night. Looking at the prepared delicious dinner inside my room, normally I don't take supper but can't resist it. Luckily I tried and had no regret to gain weight. :) I will have to come back to this place again as I did not have sunrise and panaroma view due to raining and foggy in the following day early morning. Anyway, I had fulfilled with local yogurt at Bhaktapur.

Actually I was quite excited while preparing for this trip though I did not have time to train my stamina, however, last minute being strike by over stress by work and almost collapse. So worry that I will not able to proceed with the hiking as per plan. Everything happened has its reason, this time, my domestic flight being delayed for 4 hours, so would not be able to start the trekking as per plan upon reaching Pokhara. Therefore, I got one extra day to relax myself physically and mentally. And unintentionally, found and taste a nice and yummy fried chicken wing for which I will never forget the taste and for sure not because of hunger.

For the 5 days trekking was awesome. Trekking in mountain at different altitude, there are lots of unpredictable eg: weather. You can experience from chill, cooling, freezing; wet, hot...muddy, rocky trail... crossing few suspension bridge, the fun part would be...take off your muddy boot, smelly socks and hanging on your hand to cross the stream with bare foot, where the water above ankle high. Fortunate the water not about waist high, then have to dry ourselves at the road side :). The experience is very difficult to express in word, should at least experience it personally once in life time as the trekking in Nepal different from another country, and has to be accompanied with a guide who are patience and exprience. I am glad that Kripa has arranged an experience and patience guide throughout my whole trip. I will always recommend him, Suman, who would like to go on trekking, I hope in future he can bring more sense of humour during long trip.

This trip I have experience freezing at the peak; Muldai & Poon Hill with 2 legs, super hot at the flat plain land at Lumbini. Vespa ride to 3 places, unfortunately most has been ruined during earthquake and yet being fully "restored". Thanks to the village has done their best to preserved all the historical icon, it really benefited the generation as well as foreigner like me. And thanks to Vespa guide whom bring me to visit these 3 places and try nice local Newari food.

Nepal really has it own charm, it attracted me to come back again and again.

Thank you Kripa for planning this awesome trip for me and also visit to Kopan Monastry. Thanks friend help me to fill up all the permit documents (big Hi). Hope to visit Nepal again in near future soon.

The monastery had us mesmerised and we've since learnt a lot more about Bhuddism. The only tip I have for future treks is to have one rest day in Namobhuddha so you can fully enjoy the resort as well.

Bhaktapur took us by surprise entirely - we weren't expecting such an ancient, artistic town on the outskirts of Khatmandu! Based on the descriptions on the site (and research I did online), I was under the impression I would be trekking between quiet hillside villages, off the beaten path, near mountains. This was not the case. While Rishi made every effort to take alternative routes that took us off main roads, most of the trek was in earshot of bus and truck horns, loud music, and general city life. I wish kimkim had been upfront about the type of trek this was and had more accurate descriptions of where I would be trekking (ie, between cities, on roads). I would not recommend this trek to anyone interested in a peaceful trek through the mountains or countryside.

In addition, while I walk fast, I thought the trekking time estimates were really off. One day, the trekking time was listed as 5 hours, but I completed the distance in 2.5. Adding distance to the descriptions would be helpful.

There was a language barrier but I thing they both enjoyed each other’s company
Thanks 🙏

The 8 days we spent with Tendu were very memorable. He was very knowledgeable with the areas that we were trekking. He was very personable, professional and his sense of humour kept us motivated when we needed motivation. He was very attentive to our needs at the various tea houses. Lapka and Kazi were a delight to have along on the trek. I would highly recommend Tendu as a guide to anyone coming to Nepal.

Kripa was great at helping me plan everything! She made sure I was completely ready before my trip. My trek was amazing and definitely my highlight of Nepal. My guide was really helpful and kind to carry my bags with me, but I wished it was more interactive. He did not talk to me very much. However, my overall experience was wonderful.

Review for Nepal trip from13th February - 19th February
This was my first short trip to Nepal.
On the first day that I touched Nepal, my tour planner Kripa, Jeevan, driver Narayan, welcome me at the airport, Jeevan such a meticulous person, he quickly open a bottle of mineral water and pass it to me. Arrangement to meet Amanda, my tour guide Pratikshya, make me feel warm welcome to visit Nepal.

1st & 2nd day, stayed at The Inn Patan, an old traditional brick and timber Newari house transformed into a beautiful heritage hotel and interesting olden way to lock the door of the room. If it was not in winter time, it should be a very comfortable lying on the floor mat. Besides the building attracted me wanted to come back to stay in this hotel again was the service provided by the waiter here, his name Sam and also the great food provided by the chef.

One thing must try in Patan here was the mountain flight and I was quite lucky to be able to take the flight and view the long waited, charming Mt Everest and panoramic view of the Himalayas.
I like greenery and mountains, though can't stay near to Mt Everest but thank you for the arrangement to Astam, Annapurna Eco Village, it was a very beautiful place eventhough has to go thru a very bumpy road but worth for it. Along the way, you can see the magnificent views of Annapurna Range and Fishtail (Machhapuchhere). I like the warm, authentic and hospitality, I like the feeling of whole family involvement in preparing the food, sharing the joy, singing & dancing which left me a memorable experience. Hope can stay longer and try the yoga and meditation in future visit.

I think it is not an good idea to leave Astam at noon, because have to miss the delicious lunch and upon reaching Pokhara after the normal lunch time.... Self exploration of the Lakeside town also not suitable for person like me whom don't like the heat and dust under the sunny afternoon.
Back from Pokhara to Kathmandu, meet another driver, Arjun. He was quiet but with wonderful smile. You will feel safe with his skillful driving along up to hilltop. Another place that I love - Namobuddha, Pratikshya arranged to have short walk and climb some staircases was a great way to explore Namobuddha, if the sky is clear, I can imagine the great view from the top however Nepal wanted me to go back therefore still left some mystery (foggy weather).

Besides scenery and rich culture, Kathmandu also has nice local food and snack waiting to explore, thanks Pratiksya recommendation. That I have chance to meet the member of Vespa Valley. Caring and friendly, Niraj, he brought me to taste the nice local Lasi, "laughing", meat momo, Newari food, samosa......the one that I love most -> Lasi, Bara?. Hope can try more and explore some other places by scooter ride.

Last, I would like to thank Kripa who planned the trip for me though I gave her a short notice for solo lady traveler like me, warm and caring call during flight delay at Pokhara and arrangement for hotel extension on my last day in Nepal because of late flight. Besides Kripa, someone whom I will not forget Jeevan, thank you for coming to say good bye.
Hope to see you guys in future visit.
