Welcome to Bhutan! Arrive in Paro and transfer to the capital city of Thimphu for some cultural sightseeing before crossing the high-altitude Dochu La Pass and exploring the beautiful Punakha Valley. You'll tour Gangtey Monastery on Day 5 and learn about Tibetan influence in Trongsa before moving on to see one of Bhutan's largest fortresses, Jakar Dzong, literally meaning "castle of the white bird."
Head into the Bhutanese countryside as the second week of the tour commences. In the Tan Valley, you'll visit several palaces and Mebartshso Burning Lake, one of the region's most sacred places. Next on the agenda is the Ha Valley, home to the majestic Dzongdrakha Cliff Temples. Circle back to Paro for the last few nights of the trip. Hit the ground running on Day 1, hopping on a bicycle to explore the area around Paro. You'll pedal through rice paddies to a 7th-century Buddhist temple. On Day 2, leave the bike behind to hike to Taktshang Goemba, also called the Tiger's Nest Monastery. You'll continue in the mountains the next day, riding your bike across Chele La Pass, then dropping down into the Ha Valley and continuing onward to Dobji Dzong, one of the country's oldest fortresses.
The bike tour leads you through a series of valleys in the second part of the trip, crossing through Thimphu and then on to the Punakha Valley, the Phobjikha Valley, and the Khotokha Valley. Keep your eyes open for Bhutan's incredibly diverse wildlife along the journey—the valleys are home to rare black-necked cranes, wild boars, Himalayan black bears, red foxes, and many other animals. Itinerary #3: Bhutan Trekking Tour
This two-week hiking adventure features the famous trek to Mount Jomolhari and various day hikes through Bhutan's spectacular landscapes, as well as the chance to visit the fortresses and monasteries of Thimphu and Punakha.

The itinerary features a few days of activities—including sightseeing in Thimphu, some time exploring the Punakha Valley, and a hike to the Lungchutse Temple—before the more involved trek to Mount Jomolhari begins on Day 6. Drive along a dirt road to Shana, the starting point of the trek and the place where you'll meet your trekking crew. You'll start by hiking three to four hours on a trail that leads gradually uphill along the banks of the Pa Chu River, camping in a tent at Thongduzam. The following day, enjoy your first view of Jomolhari, the mountain known as "the bride of Kangchenjunga."
Camp at Soi Tangthangka before hiking past snow-capped peaks on the way to the next campsite in Jangothang. You'll have a free day to rest here and get acclimated before the next day's challenging trek to high-altitude Tshopu Lake, then cross Bhonte La Pass and the eastern ridge of the Soi Yaksa Valley. Camp in a wide, grassy valley on the last night of the journey, then return to Paro. You'll hike to the Tiger's Nest Monastery on the last full day of the trip. Learn more

Welcome to Nepal! Discover Kathmandu on the first few days of the itinerary, browsing the colorful bazaar, visiting Durbar Square, and stopping at the Monkey Temple. Then you'll move on to Patan and catch the sunset at Namobuddha Monastery before spending a day sightseeing in Bhaktapur. A quick domestic flight will take you to Pokhara, where you'll tour the Peace Pagoda and hike around a waterfall with adjacent caves, a sacred place for Hindus.
Drive to Kande next and begin a trekking adventure midway through the itinerary. After camping on the trail, then spending a relaxing evening at the family-run Annapurna Eco Village, you'll fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu, where you'll catch another flight to Paro, Bhutan. You'll have a few days to explore Bhutan's beautiful landscapes and cultural monuments, including the stately Punakha Dzong, the fertility temple of Chimi Lhakhang, and the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery.
