Overview
Kimkim's Take
Pros
- The hotel features a unique modern design by the interior design studio Kikekeller.
- You can expect exceptional service from the youthful, friendly, and helpful staff.
- You’ll get a personalized guide to the neighborhood.
- Being located in the trendy neighborhood of Malasaña, you'll be within walking distance of Madrid’s downtown sights.
- There is an art gallery with a bar serving craft cocktails and snacks.
Cons
- The rooms are not very well sound proofed so you might hear people walk in the hallways when you are in your room
- Common areas can get busy.
- Standard rooms are on the small side.
- There is no pool or spa.
Authenticity
7 Islas doubles as an art gallery, as you'll find exhibitions on the ground floor and rooms designed by the local Kikekeller's studio. As a result, you get a blend of trendy modern art and serene spaces. And if you've ever been to the Canary Islands, you might notice some island inspiration, as the family that owns the hotel is from Lanzarote.Location
You'll find 7 Islas in the hip Malasaña district, a historic neighborhood with locally owned coffee shops, vintage clothing stores, artisan shops, bakeries, tapas bars, and restaurants. Since the hotel is only two blocks from Gran Vía, you can easily stroll to famous sites, such as the Royal Palace, Puerta del Sol, and El Retiro Park.Rooms & Bathrooms
Overall, the rooms have a relaxed, calming vibe, mixing light wood and bright whites with the occasional dark furnishing or decor. Bathrooms are clean and spacious with amenities from the natural brand Malin + Goetz. The standard option (called Easy Rooms) is a bit small, so upgrade to a deluxe room for more space. Or, you can opt for the penthouse room, which features a private terrace with sun loungers.Amenities
Although the hotel has no spa or swimming pool, its industrial-chic lobby doubles up as an art gallery. The lobby has plenty of space to relax, peruse the art, or sip a craft cocktail around the indoor fire pits. And when you need a snack or drink, head to the lobby bar. There is no rooftop garden, but you can go up to the rooftop (the hotel has an elevator) to catch views of the city and the Sierra de Madrid mountain range.Family-Friendliness
Families with children and pets are welcome at the hotel. You can get children’s extra beds for a fee, but there are no amenities or facilities for kids.Other Highlights
You'll enjoy a breakfast buffet in the downstairs dining area, which you'll reach via a leafy staircase complete with a fountain.Like what you see?

A great location in Madrid and walking distance to art museums, shopping and El Retiro Park. We enjoyed the hotel's artistic ambience, our quiet and spacious room and the professional and attentive staff. The breakfast room was bright and spacious, with an extensive selection and a barista who makes excellent coffee. Special thanks to Ruben at the concierge desk. Be sure to reserve at Angelita, a short walk away. Thank you 7 Islas!
