Introducing Morocco

Morocco is a vast country, extending from its Mediterranean shores in the north to the desert wonderland of the Sahara in the south. Spend an afternoon sipping tea on a Marrakech rooftop, take a camel ride through the desert, or hike in the snow-topped High Atlas mountains; whatever you choose, you'll love experiencing everything Morocco has to offer.

Where should I go in Morocco?
From the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and Fes to photogenic Chefchaouen and the dunes of the Sahara Desert, Morocco has an incredibly diverse blend of geography, climate, and culture. Each region has its own unique array of activities for travelers to choose from, as well as specific weather patterns to be aware of. Learn more

When is the best time to visit?
Morocco is a year-round destination, though each of its regions has an ideal time to go. Tangier in northern Morocco, for example, has a pleasant Mediterranean climate year-round, while travelers interested in experiencing the Sahara will want to stick to a trip in Spring or Fall to avoid extreme temperatures. Learn more

Things to Do in Morocco

Morocco is full of opportunities for both adventure and relaxation. Take a kitesurfing lesson on the Atlantic Coast, go mountain biking in the High Atlas mountains, or spend a day shopping for rugs and antiques in the fantastic markets of Marrakech. Learn more

How many days do I need in Morocco?
7-10 days is a solid amount of time to explore Morocco's and Imperial cities at a moderate pace. With 2 weeks you can spend time hiking in the Atlas Mountains or explore the coast. With under 1 week, it's best to focus your time: explore Casablanca, Chefchaouen, and Fes in the north, or discover Berber traditions in Marrakech & the Sahara desert. Learn more

Getting around Morocco
Private driver-guides are the best way to travel around Morocco, offering travelers both flexibility and peace of mind. Trains and buses connect the larger cities such as Casablanca, Fes, and Marrakech, while the desert area, Atlas mountains, and coastal towns are best accessed as part of a private tour or day trips. We spent 13 days in Morocco. Working with Said to plan the trip was a pleasure. Said was always helpful and prompt in his responses to our communications. During the trip if adjustments/changes were requested, Said was great in making them happen. Faisal, our driver, was an amazing driver and shared lots of knowledge about Moroccan life and culture. He was always happy to answer our questions. He knows everyone which was certainly helpful in making things go smoothly. Favourite places… the tour of the Mosque and a walk on the beach in Casablanca, Chefchaouen (the blue city), Volubilis (UNESCO World Heritage site - amazing Roman Ruins), Fes (both the tour of the Medina and the scenic over look of the Medina), the magical Sahara, crazy and wonderful Marrakesh (both the cultural tour and the food tour (both with Hanan) were fabulous and of course Essaouira (be sure to buy fresh fish on the dock and have them barbecued on the pier (the one at the far end of the pier is the best)). We loved staying in Riads but be prepared for lots of stairs). There is a lot of driving involved (which they tell you about up front), but you need to be prepared for that. Faissal had stops planned but was also happy to stop if we needed additional breaks or for photo ops. Overall a memorable trip.

Riad Kniza
Marrakech

Well, what can I say about this place? It is hard to describe their Riad in words. It is breathtaking! It is like a royal palace. There are rooms everywhere that you can enjoy as a guest. They are so elegant and impressive. Nothing short of regal. Our room was unbelievable! The detail within the room is hard to describe. Everything from the floors, to the ceilings, to the furniture. Something you need to see to truly appreciate. We had breakfast brought to us each morning on the roof top terrace. Such an amazing way to start the day. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Authenticity & Character
An amazing place. Words don’t do it justice.
Location
This is probably the only downside to this Riad. You have to walk into the Medina through the market area which is a bit crowded and busy. You walk about 5 mins to get to the Riad as cars cannot get in to the Medina.

Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen is an amazing place that is a must do for any Morocco trip. The hotel is small and a bit of a walk from where we were dropped off (as cars cannot get here). The room was nice and quaint and is in a good position within the city. Make sure if you are going out that you know how to find your way back. There are lots of small roads and it is easy to get lost. It is quite a hilly city, so keep this in mind if you have trouble walking (as there are no roads where you can get transport within the city).
